nowon was born at the intersection of live music culture and advanced audio research. Our founders and engineers come from backgrounds in festival operations, digital signal processing, machine learning, rights technology and large-scale media workflows. This unique combination enables us to build solutions that are technically robust, operationally practical and deeply aligned with the needs of collecting societies, platforms and broadcasters.

Unlike traditional audio tech companies, nowon began with years of hands-on work in the live music environment. Understanding performers, organizers, engineers and collecting societies from the inside gives us a practical perspective that fuels our research and product development.
At the same time, our engineering team pushes the boundaries of MIR research, developing models for music version identification, noise robustness, derivative detection and long-duration monitoring.
nowon is funded by Innosuisse, the Swiss Innovation Agency, for its pioneering work in music version identification.
